Welcome to the Solbourne Computer mailing list. Solbourne were innovators in IT system design and were most notable for developing real, functioning, multiprocessor Sparc-based servers well before Sun Microsystems ever got them to work! Solbourne unfortunately dumped it's hardware business in the mid-1990's and turned into a software support company. Grumman took over Solbourne's hardware business and basically stopped all product development so research stopped dead. Stephen Dowdy who worked at the University of Colorado was an avid supporter of Solbourne computer users via his Solbourne Shack website (now unfortunately deceased but there are a few copies of the site around so it can live on). This list is intended to be the replacement for the long-running Info-Solbourne mailing list which is closing down at the end of 2008. Feel free to join and share your knowledge and experience. To post a message to all the list members, send email to solbourne_computer@lios.apana.org.au. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to solbourne_computer
Subscribe to solbourne_computer by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.
