Did you believe the false hype? Did you go out to party on December 31st, 1999 just because you wanted to mark the start of the new century? What a load of crap! I feel that there there are two main points which have been highlighted by the events of December 31st, 1999 of the MCR (Modern Christian Regime):
Therefore you probably believe that the day which was called January 1 of the year 2000 MCR was hyper-significant, and that if the calendar system we currently accept by default was different, god would exert his wrath on all of humanity for being so blasphemous, etc. and that would explain all of human race's problems.
The hypocracy of Christianity showed up very nicely with the 1999/2000 year transition because any true Christian who actually studies his/her theology properly would know that there was no such thing as a year AD zero, and according to the Bible the first year after Christ's birth was AD 1, so that means that the new century did not start until the 1st of January, 2001!
[ There is also the stupid disparity of why the start of the year is not the 25th of December in the Modern Christian Regime instead of 8 days later, and also what the hell does the apparent event called the birth of Christ have to do with anyone who doesn't believe the doctrines of the MCR... ]
If nothing else, the whole hype system which surrounded the change from year 1999 MCR to year 2000 MCR was only existent as a follow-on from the half-hype, half-serious issue of data processing systems and their problem with the rollover from '99' to '00' in the electronic representation and translation of year numbers.
[ It's the same thing as thinking somebody apparently turns 21 on their 21st birthday, when their actual age is not 21, but closer to 21 plus nine months. When you ask someone their age, you don't ask how many years since they were born, do you? Bet you never though of it like this before... ]
It's when faith is held up as an excuse to, pardon the French, put shit on someone else, that I become vehemently opposed to religion, etc.. Unfortunately the Christian religion which seems to predominate in conventional so-called '1st world' countries (of which Australia is one) happens to be the one which causes the most hypocracy to be exhibited amongst it's followers - particularly the ones who adopt the doctrines of their chosen religious dosier absolutely, as fundamentalists do.
Just because someone doesn't believe the same things as you do doesn't make them bad or evil. Each person has a right to choose what they believe in.

Do you ever feel curious to know why it's regarded as compulsory for children to attend scripture classes, even though making it mandatory to attend such classes goes against the very ideals of freedom of choice which we're so often told that our primarly-Christian based society is built on?
I find it quite strange that scripture classes are regarded as compulsory when religion has absolutely no part in pure education, and a child should not be 'duped' into thinking one way or another about religious matters until he/she is old enough to decide for him/herself.
Both the Roman Catholic and the various Christian religions fall straight into this trap, because they're indoctrinating children as early as possible, and I am personally sick of my step-son coming home and constantly screaming at me that everyone is made by god, and not by our parents, despite all of us, as adults, being aware (mostly) that we were created as a result of sexual intercourse.
Perhaps it's because the churches are so scared of saying 'sexual intercourse', and they therefore 'manufacture' the line that everyone is made by their selected omni-potent being and justify it by telling it is was written that way in some apparently-divine ancient text.
I will not try to debate the other great statement that Christian religions purport through school scripture classes (and later on in 'adult' religion meetings) - which is that 'god is everywhere' - because we have no tangible proof of this one way or the other, so it's a moot point, and has no bearing on the day to day lives we lead.
If so-called Christians are meant to be so tolerant and understanding irrespective of another person's faith (or lack of it), why is this tolerance not taught to young children in schools? Why are they not told that while there might be an omni-potent being overseeing the universe, there also might not be? It's just another example of how government and religion works together to further the same principle that both are founded on - controlling populations by fear, intimidation, and confrontation.
The very core of life for the Internet is it's unregulated nature, which allows the free dissemination of information, regardless of whether it's considered good or bad.
The Internet is a perfect example of the timeless maxim - One person's pride is another person's poison. The Internet crosses all boundaries of cultural and natural diversity, and to regulate the content of the Internet will destroy that essential fabric. This cannot, under any circumstances, be permitted to happen.
In other words, it's yet another example that the misguided values of what most people believe as democracy are nothing more than a sham, because the only true form of democracy is anarchy and governments become downright scared when something comes about which is anarchistic in nature (such as the Internet).
Controlling Internet content is another facet of the attempts by governments (and most, if not all, religious bodies which have the same core ideologies) to control and restrict our access to information, effectively instituting another form of mass population control by stealth!.
There are a growing number of sites on the Internet which deal with the content censorship issue, etc.. I have collated links to some of these on the CMF De-classified Hypertext Links page.
Make sure that you are never prevented from having your say about censorship and suppression of information issues, especially in regard to online content. Politically-driven government organs such as the Australian Broadcasting Authority should leave the Internet alone so it can be what it's meant to be - FREE!
