Hello, welcome to one of my alternative Web pages. On this page I am in the
guise of Zonavar (formerly known as Navar), a supporter
and creator of experimental electronic audio and visual
arts. I suppose you'll be asking who am I, and how did I become a DJ,
etc.? Well, read on to find out the answers to all this, and more...However, before you go any further, take a look at the picture of me to the right of this paragraph. Now you have no excuse for not recognizing me! 8-)
[ The picture on the right hand side was taken in mid-August 1997 during my trip to Ohio in the US to visit Jenni, aka Jennifer Palmer, and Jaguar, aka Jennifer Wischer (both from Vrave) and be a guest DJ at their birthday bash called Jenerator. This view is cut from a pic of me leaning against Jenni's car out the back of her parent's house in Hamilton, Ohio. For more information about the Jenerator story, check the site ]
If you have an interest in region-free DVD players, check out my Hiteker DVD player info page. These players are the
exact same ones that are being sold in North America under the Apex
brand name. The Hiteker/Apex players are a hackers dream, as some of the
sites linked from the Hiteker page will show!
Related to this is the saga surrounding MPEG-1 level 3 (aka
MP3) audio data encoding, which is a well-proven and very efficient
method of compressing audio data. The major record companies claim MP3
provides an easy avenue for piracy of commercially-produced music. All I can
say to this is good for MP3!
My MP3 archive is a growing collection of
old-skool techno and trance electronica...
Support Unrestricted Use of DVD (Digital
Video Disk) and MP3 (MPEG-1 Level 3) Distribution Technologies!
The OpenDVD.org site serves as a
comprehensive resource for developers looking to implement DVD
technology from an open-source perspective, and for users to take full
advantage of all the benefits that DVD's and MPEG encoding have to offer.
One site which carries a swag of DeCSS information (and source
code!) is David Fisher's Australian DeCSS Resource
Centre.
It's important that these emerging technologies are not restricted in
their application, as the DAT (Digital Audio
Tape) standards were, by bodies such the RIAA, etc...

Space - Where Time
Becomes a Loop
Since this is not my main home page, you might like to go there to find out more about
me in general. From there you can access my generic biography, as well as
jump to a page with heaps of other links (not necessarily related to
alternative electronic arts).
Speaking of alternative electronic arts, etc., I've assembled a collection
of links to some other sites and services related
to the alternative electronic arts scene both here in Australia and
elsewhere. If you can suggest any good sites I should add links to, please
send me some email with the
details. Try my alternate address
if the main one doesn't work.
If you're ever checking out chat sites on the net, I can often be
found lurking around on the net at Spacebar which is a quiet, friendly
place to go for a chat. More info at the Spacebar home page.
I also used to spend a lot of time on Vrave, which was hosted at HyperReal, however it closed down due to admin conflicts in late 1997. I run two Yahoo groups derived from Vrave:

Audio hardware and software support for Unix systems is a rare commodity, but slowly there is more audio support emerging as multimedia becomes more integrated with contempory IT platforms. My Unix audio page contains references to all of the audio hardware and software that I know about which runs under Unix variants such as Linux and Solaris. More contributions, etc. are always welcome...
Something new! A small group of people, led by John Stone, are working on the development of a package of core MIDI system components and applications for Sun machines and other Unix platforms. You should check this out if you're interested in workstation-based MIDI music solutions.

Don't forget to visit
Which now also include a hard house section as well!

I loosely group the machines here and what I do under the umbrella of the Core Matrix Foundation - my personal affront at the efforts of governments, etc. to restrict our rights to free speech, particularly in electronic communication. If you are concerned about this, please take a look and see if you can make any suggestions to improve the look and content of the site.
If you'd like to send me some email, please feel free to
do so. If this link doesn't work for you, my email address is
