The Art of the Written Word

Compiled by Craig Dewick (in his guise as Zonavar)

This page is home to a selection of written pieces I've put together. I don't put myself in the same league as any classic writers, but I try my best. 8-)

If you have an opinion on the material here (preferably good!) please let me know.

Vrave Poetry

One (very late!) night in November 1995 a group of us who were logged into Vrave (a talker formerly hosted at HyperReal) started writing poetic verses and sharing them with everyone else. Here's one of my contribution's, which I titled 'Restless Thought':

Restless Thought - 1995

    Tis poerty now I see,
    embedded in cant and intrigue.
We ensue the wrath of numbing minds,
as our souls strafe through rythms and ryhmes.

A flash of such brilliance is beholden,
a sign of a new thought that's precious and golden.
Nimbly we scribe on mythical papyrus,
before a flicker of derision drives through mental cactus.

Boldly we must seek wise thoughts of old and new,
to enlighten; enchant; embolden; and renew.

This piece was well-received, and I subsequently decided to submit it for publication in an early issue of Kronic Oscillator - the Clan Analogue members info-zine.

Romantic Interlude

I originally wrote this for a very special woman who I fell in love with for a short time during 1995/96, and who (even though we're no longer lovers in the traditional sense) I've remained a close friend with since:

Untitled - 1996

Love and kisses, hugs and whispers,
Carresses and teases, tickles and squeezes,
Affection and companionship, reflection and relationship,
Arousal and pleasure, I will love you forever.

Whether the emphasis of this verse leans towards love in the traditional sense of the word, or towards close friendship, the values it expresses are the same since the boundary between the two is never clearly defined, and close friendship is akin to love, albeit with a slightly different skew.
